This evening marks the publication of two new titles by Ugly Duckling Presse: Ventrakl by Christian Hawkey and Greensward by Cole Swensen. Ventrakl folds poetry, prose, biography, translation practices, and photographic imagery into a collaboration with the nineteenth/early-twentieth-century German Expressionist poet Georg Trakl. Greensward, a collaboration with graphic artist Shari DeGraw, looks at the interaction between animals, humans, and gardens; short sections of poetry and prose are dovetailed into engravings by the eighteenth-century cartographer John Rocque. A video installation by Mores McWreath, created for Ventrakl, will be displayed during Christian Hawkey's reading.
