Nancy Druckman, the head of the American Folk Art department at Sotheby’s, discusses the auction house's historic sales of work from the Garbisch collection, which took place in 1974, 1980, and 1999. Through an examination of both original artworks and reproductions included in Pointing Machines, Triple Canopy’s contribution to the 2014 Whitney Biennial, Druckman considers the marketplace as a circulation system and as a catalyst for the study of folk art.
