Kia LaBeija
is an artist born and raised in New York City. Her work has been featured in Artforum, the Village Voice, VICE, and Dazed. She frequently speaks on the subject of HIV/AIDS and is an advocate for underrepresented communities—such as long-term survivors, minorities, women, and children—born with the virus. LaBeija’s works have been presented and exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Brooklyn Museum; the Studio Museum in Harlem; the Museum of the City of New York; the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and La MaMa Galleria. Her first solo show, “Fear is Only a Fraction of Love,” was at Royale Projects in Los Angeles in 2018.
